Biobased Chemicals

Biobased chemical production through industrial biorefineries will have a major role in replacing products that have traditionally been produced using fossil fuels. Leveraging GlycosBio’s portfolio of microorganisms the industrial complex now has the capability to produce several high-value green chemicals utilizing diverse sets of feedstock sources from existing biological and chemical processes, as well emerging feedstock discoveries in the area of algae.

The high-value products increase profitability, the high-volume fuel helps meet energy needs, and the power production helps to lower energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from traditional power plant facilities. Although some facilities exist that can be called bio-refineries, the bio-refinery has yet to be fully realized.
