"The future of renewable products will depend not on a single non-food feedstock but on many sustainable feedstocks"
Glycos Biotechnologies, Inc. (“GlycosBio”) is a privately-held industrial biotechnology company enabling the production of key commercial chemicals from a wide range of starting materials. Leveraging GlycosBio’s proprietary microorganisms, companies can flexibly make high-value chemical products from a wide range of industrial and agricultural feedstocks. By directing biomolecules through efficient metabolic pathways, greater production yields are possible surpassing thermochemical conversion.
By optimizing the biochemical production of product chemicals from microbial strains, the cost of making chemicals is dramtically reduced. And by diversifying the products and co-products of a plant, greater profitability is possible in climates of stable and unstable commodity prices.
The operational model for us is the integrated biorefinery – plants that produce fuels alongside chemicals and energy. We partner with companies that have a vested interest in leveraging infrastructure for the production of alternative fuels and chemicals. Biodiesel and ethanol producers, oilseed and oleochemical companies, as well as engineering and design-build firms, all benefit from GlycosBio’s ability to expand feedstock-product value margins.
Ultra Low Cost Production. GlycosBio harnesses both advanced microorganisms and a highly-tuned bioprocess to drive production costs of ethanol and other chemicals far below those of biofuels or petrochemicals
Easily Integrated in Industry. Many of the process operations employed are immediately similar to petrochemical and pharmaceutical operations, but require much less heat and power. The fuels and chemicals produced are chemically identical.
Flexible Non-Food Feedstocks. Raw carbon sources such as crude glycerin and waste fats represent low-value, carbon-rich starting materials that are widely available. Further flexibility is possible as agricultural and oleochemical wastes become more accessible.
Higher Performance. The conversion of glycerin, for example, to fuels and chemicals is higher than the respective conversion from glucose or starch. Coupled with an optimized bioprocess and recovery scheme, GlycosBio presents a game-changing technology.
Green Chemicals. GlycosBio processes greatly reduce the carbon footprint of chemicals production by using renewable resources and producing bio-based products at a fraction of the consumed power of petrochemical processes. This takes environmental responsibility to a new level.
